What inspires your creative juices?

Nature, color, patterns, and worn & torn textiles inspire me…. What inspires you? We took this photo on a trip to Lyon, France in the Parc de la Tete d’Or, where some the of lily pads were 36-40″ wide, talk about inspiring. Have you ever taken a drive down a country road & all of a sudden you slow down because your heart is so full of gratitude that you start praising and thanking God for the beauty all around you? We can’t help ourselves; it is how we were created, to enjoy the creation…because the world & all of its glory were created for us. I drove by a cherry tree in full blossom yesterday, slowed down to take note of the multiple shades of pink, and a gust of wind blew thousands of tiny pink blossoms over my car, glorious.  I made a mental note to remember that moment in time, thankful.  I drove away thinking, could I ever paint something pink with a fraction of those beautiful shades? His handiwork is all around us, inspiring us to create & be good stewards of what we have been given.

A chunk of driftwood all gnarly & twisted, a piece of white birch bark rolled up just waiting to be transformed into parchment to write a message to someone special.  I have been dragging things home from the time I was a little girl, my mom called them my treasures.  My sewing & craft room is full of random items that inspire me, a vintage hat, an unfinished needlepoint found in a thrift shop with rich wonderful threads woven, vintage velvet ribbon, a painted shelf from a friend….

Need a little inspiration, go for a walk in the woods or park, start a notebook with inspirational pictures with collages of colors and textures that move you to want to create something beautiful and unique.

Thank you for taking the time to read this, your time is valuable. I can’t wait to hear what inspires you!
